When they got to his room, he lowered her to her feet right inside the door. He left her for just a moment to switch on the lamp by the bed. Then he returned to her.

Swiftly and efficiently he took off her flowered skirt, her little pink lace-edged T-shirt and her sandals. He removed her pink panties and her matching lacy bra. He threw everything on a chair in the corner, except the sandals, which he tossed under the chair.

And then, by the soft light of the bedside lamp, he looked at her.

And she let him look. It was just like being touched by him, to have him look. And being touched by him made her forget everything, made the old dreams of that guy in the Brooks Brothers suit fade to nothing, to less than nothing. It wiped them out as if they never had been. All at once, she was someone else. Some woman she hardly knew, who lived so luxuriously inside her body and fully understood the pleasure that body could give her. Who wanted that pleasure. Who gave herself to it, with no holding back.

And really, this new woman wasn’t a bad woman to be.

Naughty, maybe. But not bad. Not bad at all.

He took off his vest. And he took off his T-shirt. His midnight hair fell over his shoulders, long and soft as her own. The silver cross gleamed at her. His chest was so powerful, the muscles sculpted and sharply defined like the muscles of his shoulders and his massive arms. Black hair grew in a wedge, wide over the top of his chest and narrowing to a line that trailed down his hard belly and disappeared beneath the waistband of his jeans. Below the waistband, the placket stretched taut over the ready evidence of his desire.

He approached her, stopping just at the point where her bare breasts brushed his chest. Her nipples, already tight and hard, seemed to peak even tighter, aching with the need to be touched.

He glanced down. She knew he saw, knew he registered how her body wanted him, just as she had taken note of how his body wanted her.

He raised his big hands. She thought he would cup her breasts. And she wanted that, with all that was in her to want.

But he didn’t. He clasped her shoulders, and then he began rubbing her arms lightly, the way he had the night that they’d agreed to marry.

He spoke, his tone soft and low as always. “You been tellin’ everyone you love me.”

She closed her eyes. His hands felt so good. If only they would just slide around to the front of her.

“In a minute.” She could hear the smile in his voice and knew that he knew what she longed for.

She made herself lift her lazy eyelids. And he was smiling.

“You want my hands on you.” Briefly, with a single finger, he brushed her nipple. “Here.”

She licked her dry lips.

He teased, “Don’t you?”

She nodded, her nipple burning and tight with the need to be touched again.
